چکیده
Reliable tree height-diameter (H-D) allometric equations are a key tool for the estimation of forest productivity and Above Ground Biomass (AGB). Most existing H-D developed tropical region based on large-scale multi-species datasets, their use to derive information AGB at species level is prone uncertainties. The single-species available mainly focused monocultures or stands with simple mixtures did not account site effects. Here we measured height diameter 2,288 trees emergent Pericopsis elata (Harms) Meeuwen in Democratic Republic Congo (DRC) Cameroon. We first examined how accurate multispecies predicting total P. elata. then tested whether vary between sites. equation stand-level environmental variables induce changes relationship regional level. additionally evaluated tree-level important local where climate stand development stage expected be less variable. found that pantropical, significantly underestimate Yangambi showed highest underestimation all studied This result supports need an specific species-level significant underestimations from disturbed undisturbed forests DRC, while overestimations were observed similar sites Using mixed-effect equation, even within single species, substantial variation exists driven by differences maximum asymptotic (Hmax) taller attain higher Hmax DRC than basal area covariate accounting effects regional-scale minor However, local-scale, none significant. Local-scale associated light availability, highlighting potential management options shape environment driving productivity.

Allometric equations for four valuable tropical tree species
Four tree species were harvested periodically over a 13-year period from plantations in the humid lowlands of Costa Rica: Cedrela odorata, Cordia alliodora, Hyeronima alchorneoides, and Euterpe oleracea. The soil was a well-drained, volcanic alluvium, and high fertility coupled with 4 m of annual rainfall and high temperatures led to rapid growth rates; at age 13 many individual were >30 cm dbh...
متن کاملHeight–diameter equations for boreal tree species in Ontario using a mixed-effects modeling approach
Height–diameter relationships based on stand characteristics (trees/ha, basal area, and dominant stand height) were investigated for balsam fir, balsam poplar, black spruce, jack pine, red pine, trembling aspen, white birch, and white spruce using data from permanent growth study plots in northern Ontario, Canada. Approximately half the data were used to estimate model parameters with the rest ...
متن کاملAllometric relationships predicting foliar biomass and leaf area:sapwood area ratio from tree height in five Costa Rican rain forest species.
We developed allometric equations to predict whole-tree leaf area (A(l)), leaf biomass (M(l)) and leaf area to sapwood area ratio (A(l):A(s)) in five rain forest tree species of Costa Rica: Pentaclethra macroloba (Willd.) Kuntze (Fabaceae/Mim), Carapa guianensis Aubl. (Meliaceae), Vochysia ferru-gi-nea Mart. (Vochysiaceae), Virola koshnii Warb. (Myristicaceae) and Tetragastris panamensis (Engl....
متن کاملEstimating Tree Height-Diameter Models with the Bayesian Method
Six candidate height-diameter models were used to analyze the height-diameter relationships. The common methods for estimating the height-diameter models have taken the classical (frequentist) approach based on the frequency interpretation of probability, for example, the nonlinear least squares method (NLS) and the maximum likelihood method (ML). The Bayesian method has an exclusive advantage ...
متن کاملTree height–diameter allometry across the United States
The relationship between tree height and diameter is fundamental in determining community and ecosystem structure as well as estimates of biomass and carbon storage. Yet our understanding of how tree allometry relates to climate and whole organismal function is limited. We used the Forest Inventory and Analysis National Program database to determine height-diameter allometries of 2,976,937 indi...
